The Violence

In the to stories "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson and "The Perils of Indifference" by Elis Wiesel there are many different ways that they perform acts of violence. In "The Lottery" the villagers all gather to be entered in a lottery. Once the person is drawn it is decided to kill that person. Even when she begged them not to kill her with rocks and stone they all started throwing rocks at her to kill her. Also in "The Perils of Indifference" there was a boat that was called St. Louis and it was filled with about 1000 Jews, was "already on the shores of the United States, was sent back" to the Germany where Hitler was in power and putting people into concentration camps and killing people. In conclusion there are many reasons that humans perform acts of violence but it doesn't necessarily mean that its right.

  1. Hello Dustin,, good to hear you love music as it runs in the family, my mother could take many instruments and be playing them well within a few days & loved to sing, all my family loved music and my Dad had a great voice but was very humble about it,, as for the Jews trying to find a country to accept them, Canada was the last country to turn them away and they went back to Germany where they were sent to concentration camps and many killed...if you want to read a good book about one Jew that, as a ten year old, lost all his family but God provided a way for him, read Zvi Kalisher, his life story,,, He's still alive and I met him some years ago on P E I and
    we're still friends..."happy trails" Grandpa...
